The goal of the Social Studies Department is to have students learn essential concepts, content, and skills so that they might develop better understanding of themselves and their own culture, other individuals, other cultures of the world, and past events and movements that illuminate and affect the present and future. The Social Studies Program at Weston High School consists of a core program and a set of elective courses. The core program has been carefully constructed to present courses that are sequential in content and skill levels. Students in grade 9 through 12 are expected to complete a minimum of three years (six semesters) of social studies courses for graduation.
