American National Biography Online

A collection of over 19,000 American biographies from throughout American history. Americans* included in the original print edition of the ANB had to have died before the end of 1995; the ANB Online will include future entries on important figures who have died since then. It will also fill in the historical record by adding biographies of influential figures who were not included in the print edition.

*An "American" is loosely defined as someone whose significant actions occurred during his or her residence within what is now the United States or whose life or career directly influenced the course of American history.

  Annals of American History Online  

A valuable online chronicle providing a year-by-year documentary of American thought and action. Content includes original words of more than 1,500 authors who made and analyzed American history through their speeches, writings, memoirs, poems, and interviews. 

Encyclopaedia Britannica

A combination of the Encyclopedia Britannica plus Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary and Thesaurus, magazines and periodicals, and other research tools.

History Reference Center

HRC is a full-text history reference database. It features full text for more than 2,400 reference books, 135 leading history periodicals, historical documents, biographies, photos, maps and video..

Literary Reference Center

LRC is a completely full-text database that combines information from over 1,000 books and monographs, major literary encyclopedias and reference works, hundreds of literary journals, and unique sources.

Science Reference Center

SRC contains full text for hundreds of science encyclopedias, reference books, periodicals, and other sources.

Student Research Center

Combines the same quality content available in the History, Literary, and Science Reference Centers with a more student-friendly search interface.

Gale US History in Context

A database providing full text of reference book articles, magazine and journal articles, and newspaper articles and also provides text and/or images of primary source documents and maps.

Covers world history from prehistoric times to the present day.  Includes primary source documents, journal articles, news articles, and reference works.

Literature Resource Center

Historical New York Times 

 This database offers the full-text backfiles to The New York Times (1851-2003). The newspaper is searchable by author, title, historical era, prominent person, and date.

 iCONN is part of the Connecticut Education Network. It provides all students, faculty and residents with online access to essential library and information resources.

NoodleTools

This service assists students and teachers in properly citing and parenthetically referencing when using another person's ideas, information, or expressions. Each new user must create a Personal ID (i.e. personal ID, Password, year of graduation, etc.). Personal ID and Password can then be used for all future log ins.

Students may be required to share a list of citations with their teacher giving them the ability to look at student work and send helpful feedback for any necessary revisions
