Community Connector Mentorship Program
“Those having torches will pass them on to others.”  Plato

The purpose of this optional 8th grade program is to afford students an opportunity to work in their area of interest with a professional in that field.  It gives the students first hand experience in the real world of work and allows them to explore a path that might evolve into a career.  Professionals from the community volunteer their time and expertise.  Students spend a total of six to nine hours with their mentors over a fifteen week period.  There is an evening orientation meeting where students are introduced to their mentors and work out a mutually agreed-upon schedule for getting together.  At the conclusion of the mentorship program, there is an evening reception celebration where students present a visual display or project demonstrating and documenting what they learned from their work experience.  Students receive a certificate for the participation.
